Dean Cropp (CAPTAIN)
Master 24 | MED3 | AS2299 Commercial Diver | Waterman
Dean Cropp, is an underwater filmmaker, sailor and adventurer. He's the son of marine documentary maker and ocean conservationist Ben Cropp and lives on Sydney Harbour sailing and exploring.
Having grown up on boats his whole life Dean has naturally gravitated back to an ocean lifestyle aboard his 40’ sailing Catamaran BAREFOOT. With over 20 years of experience on the harbour he is a wealth of knowledge having ventures to almost every corner of Sydney Harbour both above and below the water.
An ACS award winning cinematographer, Dean is currently producing a web-series “The Barefoot Captain” and has ongoing underwater filming commissions with New Caledonia, Netflix, Seven News and Sunday Night, Nat-Geo and many other broadcast and advertising clients.
Tyler Saunders (SKIPPER)
Mater 24 | MED3 | Yachtmaster | Events Producer
Tyler grew up on Dangar Island (Hawkesbury River) where boating is the daily way of things. Tyler literally caught a boat to school everyday.
Now a Master 24NC with MED3 and a Yachtmaster 200t. Tyler has merged his love of the Sea with his events and media background becoming our Sydney Harbour Special Events Producer. His production and events management skills have been in high demand with the “Yacht Social Club" Sydney’s premiere Yacht raft-up party and Pacific Boating
Silke (DECKHAND)
Photographer | Conversationalist | Rescue Diver
When Silke came to Australia in 2000 she fell in love with the ocean & underwater world and Sydney Harbour.
Living and working in Thailand and on the Great Barrier reef as a Diveboat videographer, deckhand and dive leader. She now works on conservation projects mapping the reef and marine life Photo identification.
She has sailed from Tasmania to Sydney on Wooden Ketch researching seabirds and plastic pollution, sailed the Caribbean for two months from St. Maarten through Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico to Turks and Caicos conducting microplastic trawls.,
Silke regularly Sails with Barefoot on expedition to do filming projects and remote beach and island clean ups.
Her most recent annual expeditions on Barefoot explored remote reefs in the Coral Sea and as far as Vanuatu and New Caledonia.
Anika (DECKHAND
Videographer | Nurse | Teacher | Freediver
Anika is a very passionate, creative and engaging person. As a professional Nurse, carer and support worker she spans all types of roles and client types from aged care to youth outdoor education.
She has even scaled the heights of Mount Kilimanjaro as a Videographer for charity and excitement of course.
recently Anika has joined Barefoot on our most recent expedition to New Caledonia and Australia’s Coral Sea.
Her roles as Medic, Nurse and Freediver have kept her on her toes.
Growing up on both the north and south sides of Sydney she feels a close connection to the ocean, beaches and of course Sydney Harbour.
